1987 FOUR WINNS, CANDIA 170

TITLE FOR THE BOAT, NO TITLE FOR THE TRAILER

Bought boat about 6 years ago. Was stored inside for 3 years I think. Covered outside last couple. 3.0L mercruiser 4 cylinder 140 hp.

Never started, or looked into it until this summer. Hull is in good shape, with one scratch into gel coat from trailer support. Replaced roller on trailer. Tires do hold air. Trailer is rusty, but solid, needs adjusting for supports.

Some seat wood damage at the back jump seats. Deck is solid. Might be fiberglass also. A restorable project boat, which is why I bought it.

Engine has compression on 1,2,3 cylinders, but 4 is nothing.

Drained all water out of block when I bought it. There was no water in oil I think. Was full, and clean.

Mechanic I talked to thinks it might have overheated due to outdrive water pump being bad.

Looked into cylinders with a scope, 1,2,3 not too bad, but 4 has rust, and scrapes, but I didn’t see any cracks noticeable.

Would have to be tore down to see if rebuildable.

Interior does need some care, but is restorable with some new wood, maybe new fabric, but not too bad for age.

Wanted it for the uncluttered deck for fishing with grandkids, and tubing.

Does have original cover, canopy, which isn’t bad, just needs cleaning.
